New Orleans mission trip 2024 - Feet Washing

Posted on

I have no clue what to say or do. I never have written to God, only talked through prayer. So here goes nothing. Today I said I wasn’t going to wash feet at all, but I did end up washing feet. I had an interaction where I was about to begin washing this man’s feet, and he comes in on his wheelchair. I shake his hand and we introduce ourselves. He says his name was Harold or something along that line, and I ask him his shoe size, and he says 13, but at that point we were out of everything above 10. I stand to go down to wash his feet, and he says, “You can’t,” and I pause. He then goes to tell me that both his legs are amputated, and he says he had vessel damage, and no blood would flow to his shin or below, so they amputated one 14 years ago and the other yesterday, and he is learning to walk again. He says it’s really hard, but yet he was continuing to give God glory and shine his light — and that was incredible to see his faith shine through. Then we prayed together and he left, but his light shone through me. - this encouraging note was written by one of our students
