We arrived home yesterday from our 18th Annual New Orleans Mission Trip, and our hearts are full.
After 21 years of ministry and 39 mission trips, this was one of the boldest groups of students we’ve ever had.
At The Walk, we believe discipleship has two parts. The first happens throughout the school year at Building 229. The second happens when students step out in faith and go make disciples. This week, our students lived that out with incredible boldness.
More than on any mission trip we’ve ever taken, our students boldly asked one simple question:
“Have you ever thought about what happens to you when you pass away?”
That question opened the door to countless Gospel conversations.
They met a woman under a bridge who had survived sex trafficking, addiction, and overdose, yet still proclaimed, “I am not a victim. I am a survivor.” They met a homeless man whose only prayer request was for a new pair of shoes because his boots had been stolen. They met another man who had lost his mother and his home, yet pulled out his Bible and asked if he could pray for us.
One student wrote, “We walked up thinking we were going to serve her, but she ended up serving us.” Another wrote, “It was the first time I truly felt the Holy Spirit speaking through me.” Another shared, “I thought I came here so God could use me to change someone else. Instead, He changed me.”
Thank you to everyone who prayed, gave, and encouraged us. This is your fruit too. Because of your support, students didn’t just learn about making disciples—they lived it. We trust that God will continue to use every conversation, every prayer, and every seed that was planted this week for His glory.
