We just returned from our mission trip to Los Angeles—and specifically, to Hollywood—and we’re still in awe of what God did.
This was our 35th mission trip in 20 years of ministry, and one of the most powerful yet. We partnered with the Serve LA team in Hollywood, who truly live out their motto: “Seeing the unseen.” They greeted every guest by name, making each person feel known and loved—just like Jesus did.
Each day, we spent part of our time serving at Serve LA and the other part out on the streets of Hollywood doing evangelism. We worshiped in MacArthur Park, handed out plush flowers, and shared the gospel on sidewalks, at bus stops, and even in grocery store aisles. One afternoon, we stopped by one of the busiest fire stations in the nation—just a few blocks from the park—and had the opportunity to pray over the firefighters serving on the front lines.
We met Carlos, who preaches in MacArthur Park because he promised God he would if he survived a heart attack. We met Cecile, who crochets flowers and let us pray that her art would point people to Jesus. We watched a man in a wheelchair light up when someone stopped just to pray. We saw a young man give his life to Jesus in the middle of a public park.
One moment said it all: as we drove past the Salvation Army near Serve LA, our students began pointing out some of the people gathered outside. They didn’t just notice them—they knew their names. That’s what this trip was about. Not fame, but faith. Not walking by, but truly seeing people.
All throughout the Gospels, Jesus noticed those the world often overlooked—the blind, the poor, the outcast, the forgotten. He didn’t just pass by; He stopped, spoke, and showed love. That’s the kind of heart we pray to reflect: one that truly sees others the way Jesus does.
We’re so grateful for everyone who prayed for us, supported us, and believed in this mission. God is at work in Hollywood, and we’re humbled to have been part of it. All glory to Him.
