Day 1 of Ministry - NYC Mission Trip

Posted on

Yesterday was such a powerful reminder of how God goes before us and orchestrates every step. We began our day worshiping at Times Square Church, and at the end of the service, their entire prayer team surrounded us and prayed over our group before we headed out for ministry.

As soon as we walked out the front doors, we looked up and saw another missionary—someone who’s actually staying at the same church we’re staying at in Brooklyn—doing street ministry right across the street from Times Square Church. We had briefly met him the night before, but we had no idea he would be there that morning. It was such an incredible, God-ordained moment. We prayed over each other, encouraged one another, and were reminded that the body of Christ is alive and active all throughout this city.

Later in the day, we went to Union Square Park, where we heard someone preaching on the street. We followed the voice and realized it was the same man we’ve seen during several of our past trips—the one who faithfully shares the gospel every day in the subways and parks of New York City. We stopped to pray over him and listened as he boldly proclaimed God’s Word to the crowd.

The rest of the day was spent sharing Jesus and praying with people throughout Union Square Park. It was clear that God’s hand was guiding and protecting us at every turn. We give Him all the glory for the divine encounters, open hearts, and the encouragement He continues to provide through the people we meet.
