We celebrated our 40th mission trip overall—this time to New York City! What an unforgettable week!
A hurricane disrupted our plans, flights were canceled, and we drove through the night. Through it all, we saw God’s protection and faithfulness.
Then came an incredible week! Ten teenagers, from middle school through high school, approached strangers, listened to their stories, shared Jesus, and offered to pray.
Day after day, more conversations than we could count! Often, ministry happened along the way, before we even reached our outreach locations.
It reminded me of Jesus and His disciples, and how often ministry happened as they went. Our students met people from around the world with different beliefs and struggles. They faced rejection but kept going!
Some encounters were heartbreaking. In Times Square, they noticed a woman sitting alone whose husband had died. While crowds passed by, our students stopped, knelt beside her, listened, and hugged her.
Another woman said she had nobody in her life. Our students comforted and prayed with her. One teenager wondered if they might have been the first to hug her in a very long time.
Another woman cried and said their prayer was the miracle she needed that morning. A woman battling cancer welcomed prayer, and a family in a shelter asked us to pray for a permanent home.
And these are only a few of the stories!
What a privilege to watch God work through these young people and in their hearts, growing their courage, compassion, perseverance, and love. They experienced so much in one week!
Thank you to everyone who financially made this trip possible and everyone who prayed for God’s protection, direction, and will throughout the week. We are grateful!
We may never know this side of heaven what God will do with these conversations and acts of love. What a joy to be part of His greater masterpiece!
To God be the glory!
