From time to time throughout the year, we reach out to our friends and families to ask for support as God continues to grow the ministry of Building 229 and The Walk Youth Group.
For 21 years, we’ve been walking beside middle and high school students, taking them on 36 mission trips across New Orleans, Los Angeles, Hollywood, NYC, and San Francisco. Week after week, they also have a safe, encouraging place at Building 229 where they can grow closer to Jesus and be reminded of how deeply they are loved. This fall alone, we have seen 263 individual students attend our youth events.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with no salaries, no debt, and no fundraising costs. Because we don’t carry any of these expenses, we save at least $100,000 or more every year, allowing every dollar given to go straight to student ministry and gospel work.
Our high school students have been studying the book of Mark—learning to read the Word and then do what it says. We saw that lived out on this year’s NYC mission trip:
“In Central Park, we met a girl named Lex from Utah who didn’t know anything about Jesus. We shared who He is and how much He loves her, and she asked us to pray with her even though she didn’t know how. Later, we ran into the same missionaries from South Korea she had seen in Times Square with the ‘Jesus loves you’ sign. When we told them how their worship helped Lex hear about Jesus for the first time, they rejoiced with us and prayed with us for New York.”

Students also grow through BigStuf, D-Now Weekend, and our monthly street evangelism events here at home.
There are many great causes, but only one Great Commission.
