A Simple Gift of a Sport Chair - New Orleans Mission Trip 2026

Posted on

Again this year in New Orleans, because of your generosity, we were able to give away dozens of sport chairs throughout New Orleans. Many of the people we met had been sitting on sidewalks, curbs, milk crates, or cardboard. Time after time, they would pull the chair out of the bag, set it up right there on the spot, and sit down with the biggest smile on their face.

What amazed us most wasn’t the chair—it was what happened next.

A simple gift created an opportunity to slow down, have a conversation, hear someone’s story, pray together, and remind them they are seen and loved.

One conversation especially stood out. After receiving a chair, a man looked at one of the people in our group and kept asking, “Why me? Why would you give me a chair?”

The response was simple: “Because Jesus loves you, and this is one small way we can show His love.”

That’s what this week was about.

The chair was never the goal. The conversation was. The prayer was. The opportunity to point someone to the hope found in Christ was.

Thank you to everyone who donated chairs, prayed for us, and made this possible. Your generosity became more than a practical gift—it became a reminder that every person has value and is deeply loved by God.

Sometimes the smallest gifts open the biggest doors.
