Today, Gabriel and I met a woman sitting on a pillar at Union Square. She shared how disappointed she’s been in political leaders lately and how hard it’s been to find financial support. Though she has housing, she’s struggling to make ends meet each month and constantly fears she’ll come up short. Yesterday, Mr. Chris and I were sitting while Lyndsay was journaling about her encounter, and then Mr. Chris and I started walking up and down the sidewalk, looking into buildings. Today in Central Park, we met a girl named Lex, a freshman from Utah visiting NYC on fall break. We told her we were also on fall break, but here to tell people about Jesus. She said, “Oh, Jesus! I saw a group in Times Square with a ‘Jesus loves you’ sign!” and showed us a photo. She admitted she didn’t really know anything about Jesus, so we got to share who He is and how much He loves her. Yesterday was such a powerful reminder of how God goes before us and orchestrates every step. We began our day worshiping at Times Square Church, and at the end of the service, their entire prayer team surrounded us and prayed over our group before we headed out for ministry. What does the New Orleans mission trip mean to me? We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who helps make these mission trips possible. In Luke 10, Jesus visited Mary and Martha. Martha was busy with preparations, but Mary sat at His feet and listened. Jesus said she had chosen what was better. That picture came alive for us yesterday. At the laundromat and later at Cherokee Homes, we slowed down, prayed, and spent time with those in front of us. Why did God bring me here (Bigstuf 2025)? I truly believe God brought me on this trip to show me that I am not alone when I have doubts and fears. I used to feel guilty and lonely, but these speakers made me realize other people feel this way too — and that God is not mad at me; He still cares, hopes, and loves me.
