While our group was at Union Square in New York City yesterday, a woman approached us and asked if we were offering prayers. She shared that she was having a really frustrating morning at work and asked if we would pray for her. She told us that she never steps away from work, but for some reason that morning, she felt like she needed to get outside, take a break, and find a change of scenery. This morning we got on the bus, and we had the same bus driver again! We had met him earlier in the week and had the opportunity to pray over him. He is a Palestinian Christian who told me that not too long ago he made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He also shared that he plans to be baptized this coming Easter! Yesterday, while we were in Central Park, some of our students met an older lady. She was sitting by herself, and our students walked over and started a conversation with her. What a joyful woman she must have been! She was a Christian who had volunteered with Sunday school and nonprofits. Our 6th Annual New York City Mission Trip is officially underway! What an adventure the last 24 hours have been! Yesterday evening, our original flight out of Tallahassee was canceled because of the storm, leaving us scrambling to find another way to get our entire team of 12 to New York City. On Sunday we had the privilege of baptizing seven students, each with a different story of how God has been working in their life. One of those stories actually began two years ago at a baptism just like this one. A student was invited by a friend to come watch the baptisms that day. Another incredible day of local evangelism right here in Thomasville yesterday! We started by praying and asking God to lead us to the people He wanted us to meet. We spent time in neighborhoods, laundromats, local motels, and places we don’t normally go—simply slowing down, talking with people, listening to their stories, and praying with them.
