Yesterday, we visited a new area of Los Angeles (MacArthur Park - the new Skid Row) that one of our team members had recommended from a previous year. We didn’t know exactly what to expect—only that the area had a reputation for deep brokenness. But nothing could have fully prepared us for what we saw. We’ve officially started our second annual mission trip to Los Angeles, CA! This week, our team will be serving alongside Serve LA in Hollywood, as well as spending time in the streets sharing the love of Jesus with those we meet. Yesterday, our youth group was out doing local evangelism—something we do regularly. A woman we met said, “I think the universe saw me today.” She lost her husband three years ago. Yesterday would have been their 13th wedding anniversary. The seniors who have attended The Walk Youth Group over the past seven years have gone on 149 total trips—86 separate mission trips and 63 BigStuf camps—more than any class before them. Year after year, from 6th through 12th grade, they showed up, leaned in, and lived out the Great Commission. There is no greater joy than celebrating new life in Christ!
