NYC Mission Trip Story 2024 Summary

Last week, we had the privilege of embarking on a mission trip to NYC, sharing the love of Jesus and evangelizing in Union Square, Madison Square Park, Washington Square Park, and Central Park. We spent hours on park benches, engaging with people from all walks of life. We prayed for Holocaust survivors, Muslims, agnostics, atheists, individuals battling mental illness, drug dealers, addicts, a deaf individual, soldiers in our military, and so many others. We even prayed in the name of Jesus...

NYC Mission Trip Story 2024 - Central Park

While we were in Central Park, a young autistic man in his 20s approached us. His face was smeared with chocolate from eating ice cream. He began asking questions and engaging in conversation, with a smile so bright it was impossible not to be drawn in. At one point, he asked, “Do I have chocolate on my face?” He attempted to wipe it off, but it became clear he couldn’t do it alone. I asked, “Would you like some help?” and he nodded. Gently, I began wiping his mouth and hands...

NYC Mission Trip Story 2024 - Union Square

Today in Union Square, NYC, we saw God move in ways only He could orchestrate. We met Greg, a pastor who has been evangelizing in the park for 13 years. He was painting a picture of his faith, and we prayed with him for his daughter, who’s starting college. Greg pointed us to Thomas, a man who hadn’t been to the park in a while but felt God calling him there to evangelize that day. Thomas was in shock, realizing the whole encounter was preordained by God. He said he wanted to...

Los Angeles Mission Trip 2024 - God Food

Los Angeles mission trip story: Each afternoon, we would sit down to debrief after serving meals with Serve LA. This was one of our favorite experiences because it gave us an opportunity to get to know the other volunteers. One volunteer shared a story that deeply touched us. She recounted how, ten years prior, she had been in the same situation as the families we were serving. As a homeless mother, she had humbly walked into the Hope Center with her children to receive a meal. Through Serve...

NYC-Brooklyn mission trip story 2023

NYC-Brooklyn mission trip story 2023: During our time in Central Park we met an older couple named David and Mary. Our group sat on a bench next to them and asked how their day was going. We learned that they were from Scotland and their flight had just gotten in that morning. We enjoyed our conversation so much that time flew by fast. Our group felt like we were sitting with our grandparents as they shared with us about their love for Scotland, traveling, and family. As we got ready to go,...

A Homeless Woman Tying a Shoe - New Orleans Mission Trip 2024

New Orleans Mission trip story: Today, we ministered to people in the park across from City Hall in New Orleans. As we were unloading the van, a woman approached us and asked what group we were with. It made us laugh, and we asked if it was that obvious we were from New Orleans. She laughed and said she figured we were a group that comes out to feed people. We explained who we are and told her that while we had some snacks, we would spend most of our time visiting with people and telling...

Los Angeles Mission Trip Story 2024 - It's Good To See You Again"

Los Angeles mission trip: What I love most is seeing the faces of these individuals light up when someone takes the time to listen to them. They are so grateful for the ministry’s work in LA. One man was particularly excited about the new showers, comparing them to a hotel experience and not wanting to leave. I also asked him if he had ever accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and shared how blessed we are to have Jesus in our lives. As he was leaving, he remarked that not many...

Sam, Ronnie and Smitty - Street Preachers in New Orleans along Canal Street - New Orleans Mission Trip 2024

We were doing ministry along Canal Street in New Orleans when we saw a familiar face from last year, a man named Smitty, in a yellow shirt. He was preaching the Word of God with a bullhorn. As soon as he recognized us, he gave us all hugs, overjoyed to see us again. Last year, we listened to him to ensure he was speaking the truth, reciting the five verses from Romans. This year, we did the same thing. After we finished, a woman stepped into our circle. She spoke truth and encouraged our...

Thank You For Your Simple Gift - Sport Chair

We are deeply grateful to everyone who donated sport chairs for the homeless. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to distribute many chairs during our mission trip to New Orleans last week, giving them to those who had been sitting on crates, the ground, or pieces of cardboard. It was truly heartwarming to see their faces light up with joy and gratitude over such a simple gift. Thank you once again for brightening someone’s day with your kindness. New Orleans Mission Trip Overview 2024

We arrived home from our annual mission trip to New Orleans last night and want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love, support, and prayers. We had 39 people join us on this trip, focusing on street ministry, sitting down wherever we went and loving people unconditionally. We were incredibly proud of our teenagers’ boldness in sharing the gospel with tourists, homeless individuals, and local residents. Our students memorized scripture before the trip, and it was...
