We celebrated our 40th mission trip overall—this time to New York City! What an unforgettable week! A hurricane disrupted our plans, flights were canceled, and we drove through the night. Through it all, we saw God’s protection and faithfulness. Then came an incredible week! Ten teenagers, from middle school through high school, approached strangers, listened to their stories, shared Jesus, and offered to pray. Day after day, more conversations than we could count! Often,...

While our group was at Union Square in New York City yesterday, a woman approached us and asked if we were offering prayers. She shared that she was having a really frustrating morning at work and asked if we would pray for her. She told us that she never steps away from work, but for some reason that morning, she felt like she needed to get outside, take a break, and find a change of scenery. As we began praying for her, she started to cry. She told us that somehow she had ended up in...

This morning we got on the bus, and we had the same bus driver again! We had met him earlier in the week and had the opportunity to pray over him. He is a Palestinian Christian who told me that not too long ago he made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He also shared that he plans to be baptized this coming Easter! He has been such an encouragement to us. Every time he sees us, he shakes my hand and is so excited to see our group. He just loves our...

Yesterday, while we were in Central Park, some of our students met an older lady. She was sitting by herself, and our students walked over and started a conversation with her. What a joyful woman she must have been! She was a Christian who had volunteered with Sunday school and nonprofits. According to our students, she was very talkative and spent a lot of time with them, laughing, asking questions, and encouraging them. She kept telling our students how cute they were and even told...

Our 6th Annual New York City Mission Trip is officially underway! What an adventure the last 24 hours have been! Yesterday evening, our original flight out of Tallahassee was canceled because of the storm, leaving us scrambling to find another way to get our entire team of 12 to New York City. Thankfully, we were able to book new flights out of Jacksonville. We left Thomasville around 11:30 last night and drove through extremely heavy rain, taking our time to get there safely. We were...

On Sunday we had the privilege of baptizing seven students, each with a different story of how God has been working in their life. One of those stories actually began two years ago at a baptism just like this one. A student was invited by a friend to come watch the baptisms that day. It was their very first time at The Walk at Building 229. Two years later, that same student was standing in the water being baptized. What a reminder that an invitation matters. You never know what God...

Another incredible day of local evangelism right here in Thomasville yesterday! We started by praying and asking God to lead us to the people He wanted us to meet. We spent time in neighborhoods, laundromats, local motels, and places we don’t normally go—simply slowing down, talking with people, listening to their stories, and praying with them. People shared about their families, health, marriages, loss, and things they are walking through. Several asked us to pray for loved ones...

Would you consider partnering with us? As The Walk Youth Group begins its 22nd year, we are incredibly grateful for what God is doing! Already this semester, 154 individual students have attended, including 41 first-time visitors, and we’ve already had 11 days of ministry together. More than anything, our desire is for students to grow in a real relationship with God, know His Word, live differently because of it, and boldly share the hope of Jesus with others. Our high school...

Celebrating 10 Years of Building 229! Coming out of our 9th Annual Middle School Lock-In, we’re reminded again what an incredible blessing Building 229 is. Originally built by Temple Baptist Church in 1960, Building 229 was later passed to The River Church in 2007. Ten years ago, The River gifted Building 229 to 1NeedNow, Inc. and The Walk Youth Group. This weekend, we watched students fill this place, inside and out, laughing, worshiping, building friendships, and making memories...

This summer our students spent another day in Tallahassee doing what Jesus did—slowing down, seeing people, listening to their stories, praying with them, and pointing them to the hope found in Christ. Throughout the day we met people from every walk of life. We met a man who had just been released from prison and was making the trip back home with no family waiting for him. We met a college student preparing to leave for law school in Boston and prayed for the next chapter of her...

A couple of weeks ago, our students returned from our annual mission trip to New Orleans. Throughout the week, we asked each student to keep a journal and write about the people they met, the conversations they had, and the ways they saw God at work. This is one of those journal entries, written by one of our students after an encounter with a man named Kobe. New Orleans Mission Trip – Day 4 Today we were under the bridges and we had a couple good encounters. We talked to a man named...
