14th Annual D-Now Weekend is coming up—January 17th-19th (MLK Weekend). Open to grades 6th-12th, this weekend is all about growing together in faith and building lasting friendships. Text Chris to sign up. We’ll be staying overnight at Building 229 (boys on one side, girls on the other) with bunk beds and couches for most everyone! There’s plenty of fun planned, including a covered pickleball and basketball court, a fire pit, and a dance party each night. Saturday afternoon:...

Last Sunday at youth, we had the honor of baptizing 7 students! We are overjoyed that more than 170 people, including 101 students, witnessed this significant event. There is no greater joy than celebrating new life in Christ! It’s incredible to see how some of those baptized yesterday have journeyed from accepting Jesus as their Savior at Bigstuf and D-Now to publicly proclaiming their faith through baptism. This reflects the biblical pattern—belief in Jesus followed by baptism as an...

Last Sunday at youth was truly special memory for all. Last month, we had 233 individual students join us, and God continues to move in incredible ways. Our NYC mission team shared their amazing experiences, and we will also be celebrated with baptisms of some of our students!

Last week, we had the privilege of embarking on a mission trip to NYC, sharing the love of Jesus and evangelizing in Union Square, Madison Square Park, Washington Square Park, and Central Park. We spent hours on park benches, engaging with people from all walks of life. We prayed for Holocaust survivors, Muslims, agnostics, atheists, individuals battling mental illness, drug dealers, addicts, a deaf individual, soldiers in our military, and so many others. We even prayed in the name of Jesus...

While we were in Central Park, a young autistic man in his 20s approached us. His face was smeared with chocolate from eating ice cream. He began asking questions and engaging in conversation, with a smile so bright it was impossible not to be drawn in. At one point, he asked, “Do I have chocolate on my face?” He attempted to wipe it off, but it became clear he couldn’t do it alone. I asked, “Would you like some help?” and he nodded. Gently, I began wiping his mouth and hands...

Today in Union Square, NYC, we saw God move in ways only He could orchestrate. We met Greg, a pastor who has been evangelizing in the park for 13 years. He was painting a picture of his faith, and we prayed with him for his daughter, who’s starting college. Greg pointed us to Thomas, a man who hadn’t been to the park in a while but felt God calling him there to evangelize that day. Thomas was in shock, realizing the whole encounter was preordained by God. He said he wanted to...

Los Angeles mission trip story: Each afternoon, we would sit down to debrief after serving meals with Serve LA. This was one of our favorite experiences because it gave us an opportunity to get to know the other volunteers. One volunteer shared a story that deeply touched us. She recounted how, ten years prior, she had been in the same situation as the families we were serving. As a homeless mother, she had humbly walked into the Hope Center with her children to receive a meal. Through Serve...

Why do you think God brought you on this trip? (Bigstuf Day 5: Journaling) I think God brought me on this trip because he knew that there has been some distance between us. From all the sports and practices, it has made it really hard to be consistent with him. But being on this trip with some new people and some old people has made me realize that we can make time for the things that we truly care about. - written by a student that attended Bigstuf

Celebrating 8 Years of Building 229! Tomorrow marks the 8th anniversary of Building 229 being gifted to 1NeedNow, Inc. (The Walk Youth Group) by The River Church in Thomasville, GA. This building’s story began 64 years ago, built by Temple Baptist in 1960, passed to The River Church in 2007, and then entrusted to us in 2017. Although these churches aren’t affiliated, they all shared a deep faith and a common calling. This building stands today because of the faith, generosity, and...
